The not so hopeless romantic one

Sunday, March 27, 2016

I spent my last Friday night with my two darling girls for an awesome staycation at Crown Plaza. (by awesome I meant attaching ourselves to the comfy king-sized bed and phone, lazing around like sloths 90% of the time...) Later that night when they were sleeping soundly, this happened:

I've mentioned a couple of times here before that this boyfriend of mine ranks pretty low in the romantic-o-meter. I used to wonder why, unlike most of my male friends, is he totally not into the whole declare-i-love-my-partner all over social medias or even surprises and other grand gestures. He doesn't say i-love-yous as often as I do and he definitely makes it seems like climbing a mountain is way easier than hearing him say he loves me back.

But I guess after all these years I've learned that despite our many similarities, one thing's for sure, he expresses his feelings differently. & it's not something to fret about. Knowing how he'd rather get up from the bed and see me at that hour (without me asking to!) is a pretty huge sacrifice for me, especially when he has to work the next day. It may seem so simple and unromantic but these are the littlest things that unknowingly contribute to the growth of our relationship ;D

oh how I love you, silly.

(his favourite reply to that is :"I know." -___-)

My mom, she's a totally amazing woman.

Every single morning, she would wake up at 5am to send off my dad at the door. I wake up half an hour later to find her in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. By the time I am about to leave home at about 6.15am, breakfast is already served on the table. She leaves home about half an hour later for work, reaches home at about five and the first thing that she does is to head straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

The most amazing thing about it all?

She never complains about being tired of doing it again and again. EVER.

(and here I am throwing a fit each time there's no food at home.....................)

This morning I had fried noodles, garlic bread with cheese, fish fillet and a cup of hot Milo on the table waiting for me before I leave for work. I've no idea why guys but I felt SO emo eating my breakfast that I went on a cry-fest!!! I am so dependent on her in so many ways and the thought of not having her living under the same roof with me in few months' time, is pretty.....hard to swallow for now.

We don't share the same level of patience and kindness but I hope one fine day if I were to to have my own mini-me(s), they will look up to me feeling as blessed and eternally grateful as I am of my mother.

Please grant this woman Jannah, dear God.

Countdown #8

TWO FOUR FOUR MORE DAYS :D

So, picking up from last month's update, the venue woe is still not over yet, boohoo. But thanks to a kind soul who dropped me an email with a list of wedding venues, I discovered a place which I instantly fall in love with - its huge pillar free ballroom, pretty lighting and so on! I was doubtful that my parents are going to give approval because it is located in the east (Pasir Ris to be exact) and the price is on the (veryyyyy) steep side.

Mustered up my courage to ask them and I was wrong!! Both my parents agreed almost immediately and seeing them enthusiastically asking me to book it as soon as possible made me on cloud nine. I was licking my lips at the thought of that beautiful place and told myself this better be it. My parents have never loved any of my possible venues THIS much, so it should be, right?

Right?

W R O N G

After several phone calls and exchange of emails, we decided to come down to check out the place. I asked the person-in-charge if the ballroom is available on my wedding date just before we do so and his reply.....well suffice to say, reading it brings a huge lump to my throat.

Thanks Begonia Ballroom, it was fun imagining my wedding with you while it lasted. *wails*

& that, ladies and gentlemen, makes the 7th rejected venue in our list. I'm seriously starting to wonder if changing the date is going to be a good idea.

S I G H

Anywayyyy~ Moving on to happier things! We, or more specifically, my fussy darling kareshi, have finally decided on a videographer that he likes! Yes, it took him sooo~ long to choose one to the point I was mentally prepared that we won't have any videographer for our wedding since he gave me thumbs down for the ones I like. I'm not gonna elaborate who they are but if you ask me which videographer I think is the best and I have as my number one choice, I would say Bliss Photo+Cinema. (I may or may not be biased hahaha) But too bad I can't have them soooo yeah.

Gonna share some videos done by our chosen videographer: THE V

Except for their interview/speeches, the sometimes a bit too much(to me) of slow-mo effect and random black and white effect, the rest is MAD LOVE.

Anyway since I was so free for the past few days thanks to the March holidays, I came up with this:

Pretty sure I left a few things out, so I will add other updates as time pass by! I'm trying settle most of the things before the September holiday cos I know for sure Term 4 is not going to be a walk in the park, especially the last week. And the wedding is happening just one day after the last day of school so I don't wanna stress myself out and kill too much of my brain cells.T_T

Oh and may I add. Home renovation is happening at the same time as the timeline above so......

25th Birthday In a Nutshell

Thursday, March 17, 2016

 photo bday_zpsenj6tcx6.jpg

So the day before my birthday my girls appeared right in front of my bedroom door with a balloon, cake and card while singing, or should I say shouting, the birthday song. They were all smiles and laughter recording the entire thing while I, on the other hand, was so scared for my dear life cos I was inappropriately dressed and not forgetting my hair was in a mess and face was maha bacen.

Reminder to self: Be nice to these two girls forever cos who know what they'll do with that video hahaha

They got me to wear the same top as theirs and I was blindfolded in the car all the way to the surprise destination. Too bad they forgot to bring extra cloth to gag me with it and prevent me from asking 3294 million questions on where we're going, what we will be doing and endless please-help-me-update-snapchat-for-me requests. Sorry not sorry the last one is the most important thing ok.

So we reached Fish & Co Glasshouse and I was asked to remove the blindfold, only to be told to wear this errr...smelly shark outfit. I put it on anyway and everyone sang me a birthday song! Filled up our tummies with good food and off to the next surprise - Playnation before we called it a day.

The next day the kareshi surprised me with a new phone weee THANK YOU! Later that night we watched Munafik & oh my weak heart cannot take it. T_T Regret choosing to watch it the moment I sat down ok. The movie was good though, way better than Khurafat I feel. But can't say much about it cos thoughout the whole one and a half hour show, my eyes were closed for probably one hour. lol

Andddddddd the rest of the pictures you see are gifts I received from my colleagues! Like the mug with my caricature(Hello Kitty is SO ME!), Cath Kidston luggage tag and a card from my P, which goes perfectly well with my American Tourister luggage that Tina got for me for my birthday present.

Now everytime I look at the luggage in my bedroom, I can't wait to start shopping for my honeymoon! Not too early to start shopping for it, no?

Quarter of the century me!

Just turned 25 yesterday!

I was all smiles when I read back these two posts I wrote on my birthday some years back.

I love my life!!

I was thinking of writing something similar this year but apart from being tied up with work, I also have to admit my life isn't as happening as it used to be so my list would probably stop at three. lol. But hey, I count my blessings every single day and I'm sure I have a very long list of things-to-be-grateful-for instead.

I have been receiving A LOT of wishes via texts and in person, which is quite unexpected since I've changed the birthdate on my FB to a later date and I didn't post anything about it online hehe. Just like previous years, my BFFs would bombard my phone with wishes at midnight, and my girlfriends would send me a voice note of them singing the birthday song. My favourite wishes are the ones I receive from friends who come to me personally and make doa for both kareshi and I!

Al maklum lah last birthday as single lady katakan..... :p

I've also been getting a lot of gifts and surprises!

What happened last Sunday:

My girlfriends and I are champions when it comes to embarrassing each other in public.

But I love the attention so I had a great time definitely!

So many exciting things planned for the next few days, can't wait to blog all about my birthday week!
